Finally I’ve managed to persuade my new banner image to sit in the right place and to be the right size, although I still can’t seem to persuade it to stop blinking and reloading every time I pass the mouse over it. If anyone knows how to do this, I’d appreciate the info.
The picture, in case you were wondering, is of the embankment that runs along the River Angara in Irkutsk, where I used to study.

You preempted my question about the pic. Irkutsk? Awesome. I would love to see it and more of the rest of the cities of Siberia someday. Yakustk was, ummmm… interesting. I should scan my pics, especially because I got to be a “foreign photographer” for an ITAR-TASS reporter at a Zhirinovsky rally. I even got an LDPR party membership ID book.
