I need to start thinking of some more interesting titles for posts, I think.
Anyway, it looks like over at chechnyawar.com Adil W. Ahmad & Ali Sadrovic have returned from their ill-timed weekend vacation re-invigorated. I counted 19 posts on Tuesday alone! So, if you want a roundup of what’s been going on in Chechnya since Kadyrov was assasinated, this is one place to look.
And presumably this news about Kadyrov’s charming son will come as a great relief to the majority of Chechens…
Ramzan Kadyrov will not be able to run for president himself because he is three years under the legal minimum age of 30, said Aslambek Aslakhanov, who advises Putin on his native Chechnya.
Update: Maybe the Chechen public should hold on to their relief for a while. No sooner do I post the above than I read this article: Chechens Urge Constitutional Changes for Kadyrov’s Son. The Chechen state council and government (under no pressure whatsoever, I’m sure) has ‘requested’ that Putin support a plan to amend the constitution and remove all bars to Kadyrov’s candidacy. And what does young Mr K have to say about it?
He said earlier that “it would not work out” for him to become a president, but he would try “if the people told him to do so”.
So very Putinesque
