Thinking East Issue 2

by Andy on March 27, 2005

Issue 2 of Thinking East, an online magazine covering North Africa, the Near and Middle East and Central Asia, has just been published.   Thinking East places a strong emphasis on using local journalists wherever possible, so that you get to read the most immediate and powerful reporting available.

Of particular interest to readers of siberianlight.net are Elnura Osmonalieva’s photodocumentary and her inside account of this week’s Kyrgyz revolution. Daler Rahimov’s account from Tajikistan, where the opposition are protesting the rigging of recent elections against a backdrop of international disinterest, is also captivating.

Thanks for the plug! Just a correction: we enlist local university students to do our correspondence and analysis. Moreover, Westerners and Western-based locals are also enlisted, but not as many.
