Carnival of the Revolutions

by Andy on May 9, 2005

The Carnival of the Revolutions has been revived!  Gateway Pundit hosts the first installment, covering democracitic revolutions and democratic opposition movements worldwide.

Why the need for a Carnival of Revolutions.  Well, as Gateway Pundit puts it:

Democratic reformers living in "fear societies" don’t necessarily need guns or large wads of cash to succeed. They just need:

- people to "tell their story"
- people to "hear their story"
- people to "know their story", and
- people to "feel their story"

This week’s carnival has a particular focus on Burma, but also extensive coverage of the former Soviet Union.

Next week’s Carnival will be hosted here, at Siberian Light.  If on your travels this week you see anything you’d like me to cover, drop me an email (andy AT siberianlight DOT net) or leave a quick note in the comments section below.  I’m especially interested in stories from outside my normal beat, the post-Soviet world.  I’ll be posting the next carnival late Sunday evening, UK time.

So, til next Monday, remember that Gateway Pundit is where to go for your Carnivaling fix.

“Fear societies” sounds a lot like the term Natan Sharansky used in his book “The Case for Democracy”, which has to do with how to establish a democratic society, and what constitutes one. You should read it if you are interested.

I hope more people will be able to hear, see, and feel what other societies are going through!…I believe that the blogs are bringing excellent opportunities for this to be accomplished! I feel like the main stream media is a waste of time! I go to the blogs for my news. The blogs get actual experiences and truth!…I found you from WILLisms.com! It is one of those blogs I get most of my news from…Our world is filled with many people. It is my hope these people are mostly good! A few bad ones can upset the entire process for a while…BUT it doesn’t have to remain that way as long as people really want freedom and democracy!

There’s an interesting article in today’s Gulf News on freedom of the press in the UAE.
