Eurolyrics

It’s almost time for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest final in Kiev, and Neeka’s Backlog has lyrics from the Russian, Ukrainian and Belarussian songs - a public service which means that you don’t have to go through the torture of actually listening to them.

While the Ukrainians are sure to steal the show with their revolutionary anthem, the Russians have submitted a song which… how shall I put this?… well, it might just possibly be construed as being a tad anti-American.

Hello sweet America, where did our dream disappear?
Look at little Erica, all she learns today is the fear
You deny the truth, you’re just having fun
‘Til your child will shoot your gun

Thank God, I say, for the Belarussians, who’ve captured the spirit of Eurovision perfectly with their ultra-bland ballad, Love me Tonight.
