A sampling of the stuff I’ve seen today:
- CCTV cameras are to be installed on the Moscow metro. Surprising it’s taken so long, really, given the bombings that have already taken place there.
- Allegations in the Polish press that the FSB trained a number of al-Qaeda men, including Bin Laden’s current number two Ayman Al Zawahiri. He is said to have been trained in a camp in Dagestan (a republic bordering Chechnya) in 1998.
- Project Klebnikov: US journalists in Moscow have decided to investigate the murder of Paul Klebnikov, former editor of Forbes magazine in Russia, themselves. The journalists have abandoned all hope that the Moscow police will be able to solve the murder.
- Former world chess champion Garry Kasparov has been promoting his brand of liberal politics outside of Moscow and has met with a hostile reception. Eggs and tomato ketchup were thrown at his entourage, and runways closed to prevent his plane from landing. David McDuff translates Alexander Golts’ story.
- And finally: Hypnosis, Russian style is a lady falling between bubbles. [via Blogchik]
