Dear God, England totally blew it. Such an utter disaster I havent seen in a very long time. Russia are crap as well, but they made, even though they tried their best not to. Dreadful stuff.

Been occupied a bit with the Thanksgiving holiday and haven’t been as up to snuff on events.

Turn on the Beeb and see a press conference announcing the firing of England’s coach and (if I’m not mistaken) staff, in reply to England’s loss to Croatia.

As some say that American Congressman Ron Paul (Republican, Texas) is a conspiracy theorist.

Love a good conspiracy. That said, I don’t think the Russian government would go to that extreme to tone down Western based displeasure with the political conditions in Russia.

Some in the West say that Russia overrates its importance in the West. The reverse can be said with some credence.

But how about this for a scenario?

Putin himself has realised that he has done *too* well in stifling opposition in Russia, and a massive (90% plus) landslide victory for United Russia in the upcoming elections would actually do him more damage than good in the public and international arenas.

So, Putin himself bribed the Russian team to lose the game against Israel, knowing full well that defeat would damage overall Russian confidence in his government, thus ensuring that United Russia only get – say – 75% of the popular vote and ensuring Putin’s democratic legitimacy in the eyes of the world.

Good lord – that Putin! He’s the very embodiment of a canny Kremlin Czar…

Methinks more likely some Israeli-resident, exiled oligarch, not liking VVP and trying to disgruntle the Russians ahead of December elections, *paid the Russians* to throw away.
